Precautions for laser

Pigmented nevus is a very common hyperpigmentation disease, and laser is the most important non-surgical treatment method. A variety of lasers or combinations of lasers have been used in the treatment of pigmented nevus, and there are series of case reports with good results. But the main problem at present is that after laser treatment, pigmented nevus is easy to recur, and both short-term and long-term recurrence are very common, and it is difficult to avoid completely.

Are these recurrent pigmented nevi more prone to malignant transformation? First of all, I can tell you that after a series of histopathological and clinical studies, there is no authoritative research data or clinical evidence to prove that laser can cause malignant transformation of pigmented nevus. "Laser treatment will make moles malignant" is just a theory and hypothesis.

In fact, whether it is laser treatment or surgery, there are scattered reports of melanoma or basal cell carcinoma after treatment of pigmented moles. The most likely explanation is that before laser treatment, the pigmented nevus has become malignant or has a high risk of malignant transformation, but the treating doctor treated the mole that should have been biopsied or surgically removed with laser, resulting in the occurrence of "laser nevus removal for malignant transformation".
Therefore, before laser treatment, the most important thing is to evaluate the pigmented nevus and exclude high-risk malignant transformation or malignant transformation early.
